The History of Comic Market
Comic Market represents everything that is good about anime fandom. And for all the negative publicity it's spawned over the years, in the end, it remains just that - people expressing themselves in a hundred and a thousand different ways to makeother people's lives just a bit more interesting and more worth the living.

    What is Anime?
A rather short essay, but thus, it provides a brief definition of the medium (it also deals with manga).

    What Are Manga and Anime?
Probably the most well-known explanation of anime and manga, quite probably because Eri made sure his site was listed right there in the first five by most search engines.
A number of people I know have attacked this essay for being "unfair" to American comics, and for allegedly ignoring the independent comic industry. Regardless, this is one of the most well-known pieces of writing on anime and manga out on the 'Net. And compared to what other people've written, this is not anyhow bad.
